New Delhi, 11 April (H.S.):

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership is a historic and decisive step towards women’s empowerment.

In a post on her social media account X on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that empowering Nari Shakti will further strengthen its pioneering role from policy-making to nation-building in realizing the resolve of Viksit Bharat 2047. She emphasized that this Act will ensure appropriate representation of women in the legislature, thereby enhancing their participation in the decision-making process and imparting a new direction to the country’s holistic development.

Earlier, releasing a video on X, the Chief Minister remarked that for advancing India today, it is essential for women to step forward. Not only development is needed, but also steering the nation in the right direction. It is imperative that women come forward in Parliament and Legislative Assemblies, become part of power, and participate in governance and administration. She added that as a woman and a daughter, what we have witnessed and endured in our lives equips us with the insight to make better decisions. When the decision was taken to provide bicycles to daughters so they could easily attend school, it reminded me of the struggles a daughter faces from birth to advancement.

It is with this very thinking that the “Lakhpati Beti Yojana” was introduced, ensuring every daughter studies, completes her graduation, and stands on her own feet. When this policy was formulated, it was advanced from a woman’s perspective.

The Chief Minister urged that every conscious woman in the country should step forward to share her views on this bill, support it, and define her role.

Notably, the Chief Minister had initiated a signature campaign in support of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ from the Faculty of Arts at Delhi University on Friday.

During this, immense enthusiasm was evident among female students and women on campus regarding the signature campaign and women’s reservation. The Chief Minister stated that every signature carries the message of their dream, the resolve to advance, and the confidence in equal participation.
