Chandigarh, 11 April (H.S.): In a significant development aimed at strengthening traditional healthcare education, the Chandigarh Administration has allocated 4.8 acres of land in Sector-48 for the establishment of a Government AYUSH Institute (Centre of Excellence).

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chandigarh State President Jitendra Pal Malhotra announced that the long-pending project has now materialized due to continuous efforts by the party, guidance from the Central Government, and active support from the Chandigarh Administration.

The proposed institute will focus on education, research, and development of Ayurveda and Homeopathy systems, along with their integration with modern healthcare practices. It is being seen as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to strengthen and globally promote traditional medicine systems.

Malhotra said the institute will offer affordable AYUSH education at minimal government fees, particularly benefiting students from economically weaker sections. He added that the facility will include advanced research labs, training centres, OPD services, and awareness programmes.

The project is expected to position Chandigarh as a major hub for Ayurveda and Homeopathy education and research. The foundation stone is likely to be laid soon by the Union Health Minister or another senior central government leader.

Malhotra expressed confidence that the institute will generate new educational and employment opportunities while further strengthening Chandigarh’s identity in the healthcare and education sectors.
