New Delhi, 10 April (H.S.):

The Supreme Court granted regular bail on Friday to Gujarat-based journalist Mahesh Langa in a money laundering case linked to alleged GST fraud, with a bench presided over by Chief Justice Surya Kant formalizing his prior interim relief from December 15, 2025.

The court accepted Solicitor General Tushar Mehta's submission for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that observations in the interim order would not prejudice the ongoing trial. It had previously mandated day-to-day hearings, barring Langa from seeking adjournments or publishing articles on the case.

Langa's arrest in 2024 stemmed from Gujarat Police FIRs on GST evasion and extortion, prompting ED action under PMLA. The Gujarat High Court had rejected his plea on July 31, 2025, citing risks to prosecution.

This apex court reprieve allows his continued professional engagements under strictures.
