New Delhi, 10 April (H.S.):

The Supreme Court dismissed a petition seeking to stall the forthcoming caste-based census slated for 2027, with a bench presided over by Chief Justice Surya Kant sharply criticizing the pleader for employing insolent phrasing in the filing.

During proceedings, CJI Kant interrogated the advocate: Where do you source such discourteous diction? How do you draft and upload these petitions? The writ urged equitable resource allocation per demographic profiles alongside directives incentivizing single-child families economically.

This echoes the court's February 2 refusal to scrutinize caste enumeration methodologies, affirming census authorities' statutory purview. Marking the first comprehensive caste tally since 1931 as India's 16th national decennial exercise, the initiative promises granular socioeconomic insights pivotal for policy formulation.
