New Delhi, 07 March (H.S.): Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda announced on Saturday that over 15 lakh people purchase medicines daily from Jan Aushadhi centers, marking Jan Aushadhi Day as a testament to the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana's pivotal role in delivering affordable generic drugs nationwide.

In an X post, Nadda highlighted nearly 18,000 centers operating across cities, towns, and villages, bringing essential medications closer to homes and easing families' healthcare cost burdens. These outlets have evolved into reliable, budget-friendly health solutions, substantially reducing treatment expenses for millions.

Observing the occasion, Nadda emphasized the Modi government's initiative in fortifying access to low-cost generics. Jan Aushadhi Day, an annual awareness campaign by the Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, aims to educate citizens on generic drugs and encourage their uptake for quality care at minimal prices.

Nationwide events include health camps, awareness drives, free check-ups, consultations, and information sessions on Jan Aushadhi centers, underscoring that high-quality medicines remain accessible without premium costs.
