Delhi Assembly Rejects Kejriwal's Live Streaming Plea for Privilege Panel Hearing

New Delhi, 06 March (H.S.): The Delhi Legislative Assembly has rejected Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal's request for live streaming the proceedings of the Privilege Committee. The Delhi Assembly today sent a letter to former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, turning down his request for live streaming the Privilege Committee's proceedings.

The committee has summoned Kejriwal in connection with the 'Phansi Ghar' (death row cell) matter and called him to appear at 3 PM on Friday.Following this, Kejriwal had written a letter on Thursday requesting live streaming of the Privilege Committee proceedings.

As per the Speaker's directions, the proceedings of the Privilege Committee are confidential, and procedural rules do not permit live streaming. Moreover, there is no precedent of telecasting Privilege Committee meetings in Parliament or other states.

The Speaker expressed surprise at Kejriwal's lack of awareness in this matter, despite his over ten years as a member of the Assembly. During this period, several Privilege Committee meetings took place, but none were ever telecast or live streamed.
