Kolkata, 05 March (H.S.): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday launched the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Parivartan Yatra from the Hingalganj Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district during his visit to West Bengal. A large number of people attended the public meeting and roadshow organised as part of the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Dhami launched a sharp attack on the Mamata Banerjee government, alleging that appeasement politics in West Bengal has hindered the state’s development. He said that instead of turning the youth into “karmaveer” (productive contributors), they are being made “bhattaveer” (dependent on allowances), which is harming their future.
He further said that West Bengal is currently burdened with heavy debt and the law and order situation in the state is deteriorating. According to him, women in the state feel insecure. Dhami also alleged that government employees are not receiving their rightful dues and that dearness allowance is not being paid on time.
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister also expressed concern over the state’s education system, claiming that thousands of schools have been shut down, affecting the future of the younger generation.
Raising the issue of illegal infiltration from across the border, he said it is a serious matter linked to national security and expressed concern over what he described as the state government’s silence on the issue.
Dhami said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to ending what he termed as anarchy in West Bengal if it comes to power and ushering in a new era of good governance, security and development. He added that “Nation First” remains the party’s guiding principle.
Referring to policy decisions taken in Uttarakhand, including the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, strict laws against religious conversion and action against illegal madrasas, Dhami said that decisive leadership is essential for ensuring development and effective governance.
