Tinsukia (Assam), 30 March (HS): As many as 11 people, including children, fell ill after consuming wild mushrooms in Sadiya under Tinsukia district of Upper Assam, officials said on Monday.

According to sources, all the affected individuals were admitted to Sadiya Civil Hospital after they developed symptoms following the consumption of wild mushrooms on Sunday night. The patients are residents of Rukmini Deuri village.

The affected persons have been identified as Sumbari Deuri (60), Abhijit Deuri (45), Ujjwal Deuri (4), Niranjan Deuri (2), Mamoni Deuri (30), Kujay Deuri (56), Mitali Deuri (55), Radhika Deuri (12), Nani Deuri (35), Manjit Deuri (19) and Projesh Deuri (20). The age of the patients ranges from 2 to 60 years, including both minors and adults.

Hospital sources confirmed that all patients are currently undergoing treatment and are under close medical supervision. No fatalities have been reported so far and their condition is being closely monitored.

Meanwhile, local health authorities have urged residents to exercise caution while consuming wild mushrooms and warned about the potential dangers of toxic varieties.--------------
