Hyderabad, March 28 (H.S.): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Sri Omkareshwara Swamy temple at Manchirevula as part of the Musi Riverfront development initiative.
According to officials, the temple project will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹700 crore across eight acres. The plan includes construction of a 100-foot Galigopuram and installation of a 100-foot statue of Lord Shiva in the middle of the Musi River.
The temple design has been finalised by the Musi River Front Development Corporation. The proposed temple will come up near the historic Sri Veerabhadraswamy temple in the area.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister sought public cooperation for the successful completion of the Musi rejuvenation project. He expressed confidence that restoration of the river would transform it into a major tourist attraction.
“With the blessings of God, we will clean the Musi River and develop it into a great tourist destination,” he said.
He also announced that a mosque, church and a gurudwara would be constructed along the riverbanks as part of the integrated riverfront development plan.
The Chief Minister further stated that about 20 TMC ft of water would be lifted from the Godavari River to ensure perennial flow in the Musi.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he said the Musi revival project would be completed at any cost.
