Agra, 26 March

(HS): An eight-year-old girl who went missing earlier this week was discovered

dead inside a flour canister in a rented room in Agra, authorities said on

Thursday. Deputy

Commissioner of Police (City) Ali Abbas stated that the girl went missing

approximately 4 p.m. on March 24 in the Tajganj area's Siddhant Nagar

community. Her family notified the police, who initiated a large-scale search. Eight

teams were dispatched to find the youngster, and CCTV video from the

surrounding area was checked. The girl was observed entering the area in one

video but not in any subsequent footage, he claimed. Based on suspicion,

authorities smashed down the lock of a room rented by Sunil, a man who resided

in the same house as the victim.

During the

search, the officer discovered the girl's body in a flour canister inside the

room.

According

to officials, the accused is on the run, and numerous police teams have been

organized to track him down. The body was submitted for a post-mortem study to

determine the exact cause of death. Angry people protested and demanded harsh

punishment for the offenders. According to a neighbour, Sunil had been a renter

in the same residence for nearly a year and worked at the family's shoe

factory. She stated that he first participated in the search for the missing

girl but then closed his door and departed, arousing suspicion.
