(HS): An eight-year-old girl who went missing earlier this week was discovered
dead inside a flour canister in a rented room in Agra, authorities said on
Thursday. Deputy
Commissioner of Police (City) Ali Abbas stated that the girl went missing
approximately 4 p.m. on March 24 in the Tajganj area's Siddhant Nagar
community. Her family notified the police, who initiated a large-scale search. Eight
teams were dispatched to find the youngster, and CCTV video from the
surrounding area was checked. The girl was observed entering the area in one
video but not in any subsequent footage, he claimed. Based on suspicion,
authorities smashed down the lock of a room rented by Sunil, a man who resided
in the same house as the victim.
During the
search, the officer discovered the girl's body in a flour canister inside the
room.
According
to officials, the accused is on the run, and numerous police teams have been
organized to track him down. The body was submitted for a post-mortem study to
determine the exact cause of death. Angry people protested and demanded harsh
punishment for the offenders. According to a neighbour, Sunil had been a renter
in the same residence for nearly a year and worked at the family's shoe
factory. She stated that he first participated in the search for the missing
girl but then closed his door and departed, arousing suspicion.
