New Delhi, 25 March (H.S.):

Nominated for Goalkeeper of the Year and Upcoming Player of the Year Under-21 Men at Hockey Indias 8th Annual Awards 2025 rising star Prince Deep Singh sees it as more than just recognition—its a confidence booster that clears mental doubts.

Prince told Hockey India Im thrilled and proud. These awards usually take time but getting nominated early confirms Im on the right path.

Recalling his journey the young goalkeeper said hes always risen to pressure. In the Junior World Cup key matches team trust boosted my confidence letting me perform better for the side.

He revealed his career didnt start in goal. I began as a defender but did goalkeeping in football. My coach spotted my talent and pushed me into hockeys goal—thats when my real journey began.

Describing goalkeeping as mentally taxing Prince noted Pressure never lets up from crowds or game situations. I start mental prep a day early and constant field chatter keeps me in control.

Despite no senior team debut yet sharing nominations with legends feels special in Indias tough goalkeeper field. It motivates me to push ahead.

Princes dream stays clear Main goal is lead goalkeeper for Indias senior team and Olympic gold. If I win this Ill dedicate it to family—their support is my biggest strength.
