Ukhrul (Manipur), 24 March (HS): In a coordinated crackdown aimed at restoring stability, security forces on Tuesday carried out extensive search operations across multiple locations under Litan Police Station in Manipur’s Ukhrul district, dismantling bunkers and recovering ammunition from sensitive areas.

The joint operation was conducted simultaneously in key villages, including Lengiangching and Mongkat Chepu, where fortified bunkers set up by rival groups were identified and neutralised. Officials said these structures had been used during recent confrontations and posed a continued threat to peace in the region.

During the operation, security personnel also recovered a significant number of spent cartridges, reflecting the intensity of earlier clashes. The dismantling of such fortified positions is being seen as a major step towards reducing the possibility of further armed conflict.

Authorities noted a marked decline in firing incidents following the operation, indicating an improvement in the ground situation. Security forces have since intensified patrolling and established stronger area domination in vulnerable pockets to ensure sustained peace.

The move is part of ongoing efforts by the administration and security agencies to bring normalcy to violence-affected areas of Manipur. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order through continued vigilance and proactive measures.-----------
