Nagaon (Assam), 25 March (HS): A fresh wave of resignations has shaken the Congress unit in Nagaon, with over a hundred leaders and workers quitting the party last night, alleging dissatisfaction with internal functioning and leadership.
The development comes under the leadership of Youth Congress Vice President Pallabjyoti Nath, who, along with a large number of party members, announced their resignation. The leaders stated that they were no longer in a position to continue working in the party, claiming they could not function under the directives and style of Rokibul Hussain.
Sources indicate that the mass exodus has significantly weakened the organisational base of the Congress in the district, raising concerns ahead of the ongoing political developments in the state.
Party insiders suggest that the resignations could have a considerable impact on the party’s grassroots strength in Nagaon, as discontent continues to surface within the ranks.
