
New Delhi, 25 March (H.S.):
Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai introduced the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill 2026 in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday seeking further changes to the 2010 FCRA framework.
Presenting the bill Rai informed the House that its core aim is to enhance transparency and accountability in how foreign funding gets used by NGOs and organizations. He stressed the need for tighter oversight to ensure donations serve intended purposes without misuse.
Some opposition members including Congress MP Manish Tewari and Trinamool Congress' Pratima Mandal voiced objections signaling potential debates ahead on the bill's scope and implications.
