New Delhi, 25 March (H.S.): Amid reports of cooking gas shortages nationwide due to 26 days of West Asia military conflict Delhi Polices Crime Branch cracked down hard Wednesday on cylinder hoarding and refilling in Sangam Vihar area seizing 183 cylinders and arresting four suspects.

Acting on Anti Narcotics Task Force tip offs about illegal stockpiling Assistant Commissioner Satendra Mohan oversaw Inspector Mahipal Singhs team raid three locations nabbing Sher Singh Suraj Parihar Raghu Raj Singh and Jitendra Sharma red handed. Police recovered 154 filled cylinders 29 empty ones plus iron pipes electronic scales and refilling gear.

Probe revealed all four work as registered Indane Gas agency delivery agents in Sangam Vihar. Instead of reaching customers they stashed cylinders in rented godowns siphoned one to two kilos gas from filled ones into empties then sold them openly above market rates pocketing fat profits.

The entire operation posed grave explosion risks police warned. Cases stand registered with interrogation ongoing and vows for tougher crackdowns ahead on such deadly scams.
