
New Delhi, 25 March (H.S.): Rajya Sabha expressed profound grief Wednesday over the passing of former member Datta Meghe with Chairman CP Radhakrishnan moving a condolence motion and leading tributes in the House.
Radhakrishnan noted Meghe died on March 22 at age 89. He served Rajya Sabha from April 2002 to April 2008 born November 11 1936 in Paunar Wardha district Maharashtra. His political journey began in Maharashtra Assembly where he won three terms later becoming a state minister and four-time Lok Sabha member.
Meghe made lasting contributions to education and health founding institutions that expanded access to higher learning and medical care especially for underprivileged communities. Calling his loss irreparable for the nation the Chairman described him as a capable parliamentarian seasoned legislator and dedicated social worker. Members then observed silence for the departed soul's peace.
