Muscat,Oman, 24 March (H.S.):

In the midst of ongoing tensions across West Asia, the US Embassy in Oman has issued a nationwide shelter in place advisory, urging Americans to remain indoors and stay safe wherever they are. The alert, released on Monday, March 23, does not elaborate on the specific ongoing activities prompting the warning, but it comes against a backdrop of heightened regional instability.

In its security bulletin, the embassy advised citizens to stay inside their homes or any secure building, avoid unnecessary travel outside, and stock up on essentials like food, water, medications, and other necessities. If an attack occurs, stay away from debris or damaged areas and monitor official updates through reliable news sources, the advisory stated, emphasizing vigilance in uncertain times.

This follows an earlier directive from the US State Department ordering non-essential government employees and their families to depart Oman. That move came just days after the outbreak of conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

The latest caution underscores the growing volatility in the region, with security agencies clearly bracing for any unforeseen threats.
