New Delhi, 24 March (H.S.):
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump held a phone conversation Tuesday amid the ongoing 25‑day-old military conflict in West Asia with both leaders discussing the escalating situation and agreeing to stay in close touch on efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
Prime Minister Modi took to social media platform X to share that President Trump called him to discuss the prevailing situation in West Asia. India according to Modi supports de‑escalation and an early return to peace in the region and he underscored that keeping the Strait of Hormuz open safe and accessible to all remains in the global interest.
The leaders also agreed on the importance of continued coordination on steps to reduce tensions and promote regional stability. The call comes at a time when hostilities in West Asia are intensifying and global concerns are mounting over potential disruptions to energy supplies and wider economic fallout.
Earlier US Ambassador to India Sergio Gurr also posted on X confirming the conversation between the two leaders noting that they discussed current developments in West Asia with particular emphasis on keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and maintaining regional stability.
