
Mumbai, 23 Mar (HS): Bihar State Foundation Day was celebrated at the
Maharashtra Lok Seva Bhavan in Mumbai on Monday in the presence of Maharashtra
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma. The programme was organised as a part of ‘Ek Bharat
Shreshtha Bharat’ mission, in association with the Mumbai University.
Varma
said Bihar is the land of culture, spirituality and philosophy. The land gave
to the world Bhagwan Mahaveer and Bhagwan Buddha who propagated peace and
sacrifice. The roots of democracy in India is imbibed in the teachings of
Buddha.
Bihar
has been producing people who are contribution to the development of many
states including Maharashtra, as IAS and IPS officers. Even in Tripura and
other states in the North-East festivals like Chhath Puja is celebrated with
religious fervour, Varma said. India is a nation which is proud of its rich
culture and knowledge with contribution of people of Bihar.
The
students of Mumbai University staged folk dance and Bhojpuri songs on the
occasion. The students also staged traditional dance of Mithila Region ‘Zizia’
and Jat-Jatin’which was highly appreciated.

Maharashtra Governor’s Secretary Dr Prashant Narnavre made introductory remarks.
Vandana Mormoare proposed a vote of thanks. Mumbai University Vice-Chancellor
Prof Ravindra Kulkarni and Pro-VC Prof Ajay Bhamre felicitated Governor Varma.
