
Jalaun, 22 March (HS): On
Sunday, police arrested a man from Bihar for allegedly desecrating statues at a
temple on the Jhansi-Kanpur Highway. The event occurred at 9:30 a.m. at a Shiva
temple near the Chaurasi bridge. According to Additional Superintendent of Police
Prem Kumar Verma, the man reportedly harmed the'shivling' and 'Nandi' statues
within the temple. As word spread about the incident, a huge crowd gathered at
the scene and apprehended the culprit. Locals alerted a police squad commanded
by CO Rajiv Sharma and Inspector Anand Kumar Singh, who arrived at the spot and
arrested him. The entire episode was captured by the temple's CCTV cameras.
A
complaint has been filed against Suraj Kumar in Nalanda, Bihar, under relevant
sections, and an investigation is proceeding to discover the motivation for the
crime, according to ASP Verma, who added that the suspect remains in police
custody. To ensure peace and harmony in the neighborhood, the police
administration put new Lord Shiva and Nandi statues at the shrine.
