Chandel (Manipur), 20 March (HS): Acting on specific inputs, security forces carried out a search operation in the general area of Molcham village under Molcham Police Station in Chandel district on Thursday, official surface in formed on Friday, leading to the recovery of a cache of arms, explosives and communication equipment.
During the operation, the team seized one AK-47 rifle along with two magazines and a 9mm carbine machine gun (CMG) fitted with a magazine. In addition, two grenade detonators and two grenades were also recovered from the site.
The recovered items further included two magazines of different weapons and a total of 194 rounds of ammunition. Security personnel also found five Baofeng VHF radio sets along with five USB chargers, indicating possible use for communication by militant elements.
The recovered materials have been taken into custody and further investigation is underway to ascertain the origin and intended use of the seized items, officials said.-----------
