New Delhi, 19 March (H.S.): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioned industrialist Anil Ambani on Thursday at its headquarters regarding a ₹2,929 crore loan fraud case linked to State Bank of India, with interrogation slated to continue Friday for document and statement corroboration.
Ambani's spokesperson confirmed his scheduled appearances on March 19-20 per the FIR stemming from SBI's complaint, affirming full cooperation while vowing robust defense. The August 2025 FIR invokes criminal conspiracy, cheating, and breach of trust against Ambani and Reliance Communications Ltd (RCom), alleging diversion from a ₹40,000 crore+ consortium debt where SBI bore the lion's share loss.
Ambani's camp contends the decade-old claims mischaracterize his non-executive director role sans day-to-day involvement, having challenged SBI's fraud tag in court.
