March (HS): The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is working rapidly to give a

distinct identity to lesser-known religious sites. In this regard, the ancient

Shri Mahadev Jalsai Nath Ji Temple located in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, is going

to be renovated. Work has begun on an ambitious project worth approximately Rs. 89.82 lakh

for the beautification and overall development of the temple, and the first

installment of Rs. 60 lakh has been released. This initiative will not only

enhance the temple's grand and modern appearance, but will also boost local

tourism. This site will emerge as a major attraction for devotees.

Uttar

Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh stated, As part of the

overall development of the Jalsai Nath Temple complex, it is being equipped

with modern amenities. The project includes the construction of a pilgrim hall,

a pilgrim shed with sheet roofing, seating platforms, steel railings,

interlocking tiles with green power, and RCC benches. The complex will also be

beautified with streetlights, clean drinking water, and gardening. The minister

stated that this initiative will not only provide better facilities to devotees

but will also boost religious tourism in Lucknow.

He

informed that several other temples, including the Jalsai Nath Temple in

Sarojini Nagar, the Koneshwar Mahadev Temple in the Chowk area, and the Sant

Ravidas Temple in Bara Birwa, are being developed in the capital city of

Lucknow. The Tourism Department is working towards beautification, improved

facilities, and creating an attractive tourist environment at these sites.

Tourism

and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, Lucknow, adorned with a rich

heritage, traditional cuisine, and a series of ancient temples, has become a

major center of attraction for tourists from India and abroad. Due to improved

connectivity, modern facilities, and a tourist environment, the city recorded

the arrival of more than 17.1 million tourists in 2025. Of these, more than

38,000 were foreign tourists. Lucknow's growing popularity and the pace of

religious tourism development have given the city a special place on the

tourism map. Uttar Pradesh is the top state in the country in religious

tourism, and efforts are being made to maintain this position.
