Kasganj, 16
March (HS): On Monday, an 18-tonne gas-laden capsule tanker overturned on the
Mathura-Kasganj-Bareilly highway near Nagla Dukariya, causing concerns about a
potential gas leak. The tanker was traveling from Gujarat to Bareilly and
overturned due to poor road conditions, prompting authorities to halt vehicular
movement on both e-ways as a precautionary measure. Driver Ravi Kumar, who
escaped unharmed, stated that the accident occurred when the large vehicle lost
balance due to a broken highway section and loose soil on the road. Sub-Divisional
Magistrate Sanjeev Singh, police officers, and fire department teams went to the
scene as soon as they learned of the occurrence. Two fire trucks were
dispatched as part of the safety precautions.
To avoid
adverse situations, authorities diverted traffic and shut off the area around
the tanker. Local people were also warned to keep a safe distance from the
location. Officials said technical specialists from the relevant agency have
been summoned to analyze the issue and inspect the gas tanker to see whether
there has been any leaking. Driver Ravi Kumar has hinted about a tiny leak, but
officials say it has yet to be validated by specialists. According to fire
officer R K Sharma, crews are closely monitoring the situation and working to
securely put the truck upright and restore regular traffic flow on the highway.
