New Delhi, 14 March (H.S.): In a blistering parliamentary offensive, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accused the Central government of reneging on its solemn promise to farmers regarding a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP), spotlighting unfulfilled commitments from the 2021 protests. He asserted that assurances were made for MSP at C2+50% levels across all crops, yet implementation remains elusive more than four years later.

Sharing a Lok Sabha question on social media Saturday, Gandhi interrogated whether the government pledged statutory MSP backing during those agrarian agitations and, if not enacted, demanded explicit reasons for the protracted delay.

Gandhi further probed the administration's stance on direct procurement of deficit-hit pulses and oilseeds, seeking comprehensive details if deliberations have advanced. He lambasted the regime for evading forthright responses, alleging a deliberate sidestepping of farmer entitlements enshrined in prior pledges.

The Congress stalwart vowed unrelenting advocacy inside Parliament and beyond to safeguard agrarian rights and fortify the MSP framework. This renewed salvo underscores escalating tensions over agricultural policy as opposition forces amplify calls for legislative reform amid ongoing rural distress.
