Kolkata, 13 March (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday announced that the state government intends to soon set up five new cultural and development boards for the Munda, Kora, Dom, Kumbhakar and Sadgope communities.

In a post on social media platform X, Banerjee said the proposed boards would work towards protecting the unique languages, traditions and customary rights of these communities while ensuring better access to education, healthcare and employment opportunities.

She said the communities are an integral part of Bengal’s social and cultural fabric and extended her congratulations to them.

The chief minister also noted that since 2013, the state government has set up several such boards for weaker sections of society to ensure their overall development.

Reiterating her government’s commitment to the slogan “Ma, Mati, Manush”, Banerjee said the aim was to ensure that no community in the state is left behind and that inclusive development reaches every section of society.
