Kolkata, 13 March (H.S.): Train services on the Sealdah main line were disrupted on Friday morning, causing severe inconvenience to daily commuters, railway sources and passengers said.
Several trains were stranded at different stations before Dum Dum, with reports of multiple trains halting at Agarpara and Belgharia stations.
According to passengers, the Barrackpore–BBD Bagh local train suddenly came to a halt at platform number four of Agarpara station in the morning. As the train remained stationary for a long time, several passengers got down on the platform.
At Agarpara station, down-line trains bound for Sealdah usually pass through platforms number two and four. While services continued through platform number two, trains on the line connected to platform number four remained stuck.
Passengers said one train after another had stopped on the same line, preventing movement of services ahead. The exact reason behind the disruption, however, was not immediately known.
