Ramban, 13 March (H.S.): Police here today solved a brutal murder case of a young woman from Gool and arrested the accused from Telangana.

Talking to reporters, SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta said that a missing person report was lodged on March 3, 2026, at Gool Police Station by Shah Nawaz regarding disappearance of his sister Zahida Bano.

Acting promptly on the report, a search team led by PSI Sunil Raskotra was constituted to trace the missing girl. The same evening, Police received information that body of an unidentified girl was lying in Manzimkunda forest area near Gool town and cops rushed to the spot and found the body of a young woman inside a Dhok with throat slit.

Family members were called to the spot and they identified the deceased as Zahida Bano and Police registered an FIR with number 11/2026 under Sections 64 and 103(1) of BNS at Gool Police Station and launched investigation.

Considering the gruesome nature of the crime and growing public concern, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SDPO Gool was constituted to crack the case.

During investigation, Police analysed Call Detail Records and mobile dump data which revealed that the deceased was in frequent contact with Mohammad Ashraf, son of Abdul Ghani, a resident of Saar in Mahore tehsil of Reasi district. The accused was absconding.

Despite attempts by the accused to evade arrest, the SIT tracked him to Sangareddy district in Telangana and cops were dispatched to Telangana where, with the assistance of local Police, the accused was arrested and brought back to Gool for further investigation.
