Saharanpur,

13 March (HS): According to police, three members of the right-wing Hindu

Raksha Dal were detained on Friday for reportedly painting communal slogans on

a wall in the Biharigarh region. The suspects, including two women, were nabbed

on Thursday night after writing slogans such as Ye sadak Musalmano ke

liye nahi hai (This road is not for Muslims) on the Delhi-Dehradun

Expressway, according to police.

On

February 26, a video from the highway leaked on social media, showing

individuals using spray paint to scrawl communal sentiments along the road.

Later, several Hindu Raksha Dal members claimed responsibility for the act. Police

apprehended the suspects after receiving reports of a breach of peace and

impending unrest. They are accused of plotting to instigate unrest, authorities

added.

Akshay

Sharma, Station House Officer in Biharigarh, named the arrested persons as

Sulekha, Sharda, and Manav Kendra, all of whom are from Dehradun. All three are

between the ages of 25 and thirty. According to police sources, the action was

conducted in response to a complaint filed by an employee of the National

Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at Biharigarh police station.
