
Bhubaneswar, 13 March (H.S.): A one-day training programme on “Safety in Chemical Handling” was organised at the State Labour Institute in Bhubaneswar to enhance workplace safety and strengthen awareness among engineers working in various industries.
The programme was conducted by the Directorate of Factories and Boilers under the approval of the Labour and Employees’ State Insurance Department. Officials said such initiatives are aimed at preventing industrial accidents and promoting safer working environments across factories.
The event was inaugurated by Director of Factories and Boilers Indramani Tripathy, who stressed the importance of strict adherence to safety norms and proper chemical management protocols in industrial operations. Deputy Director (Safety) Dr. Malay Kumar Pradhan delivered the welcome address, highlighting the need for awareness and timely response during emergencies.
Technical sessions featured expert presentations on chemical hazards and safety protocols. Speakers included Ajay Kumar from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Paradip Refinery), Prachi Saurabh Panda from Paradeep Phosphates Limited, Sanyasi Kumar Dakuya from J.K. Paper Limited, and Dr. Abhishek Acharya from Sapigen Biologics.
Around 40 engineers from various industrial organisations participated in the programme. The training concluded with a valedictory session, during which certificates were distributed to the participants.
