Murshidabad, 13 March (H.S.): The police recovered two buckets filled with crude bombs from a mango orchard in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district on Friday, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Farakka police station conducted a search operation in Jayrampur area under Farakka block in the morning.

During the search, the police recovered two buckets containing several fresh crude bombs hidden inside a mango orchard, police sources said.

A bomb disposal squad was immediately informed to defuse the explosives, while security in the area was tightened. Police personnel cordoned off the spot to prevent any untoward incident.

Farakka police station IC Amit Mukherjee said it was suspected that the bombs had been stored there by miscreants for some anti-social purpose.

The police have started an investigation to identify those responsible and ascertain the motive behind keeping the explosives in the orchard.
