
Birbhum, 13 March (H.S.): The Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered a trolley bag containing gold jewellery and other belongings from Bolpur railway station and returned it to its owner after verification, officials said on Friday.
The unattended bag was found by on-duty police personnel on platform number 2 of Bolpur station on Thursday, under the Bolpur outpost of Sainthia GRP police station in Howrah GRP district.
Following a detailed inquiry, the police traced the owner as Moumita Choudhury, a resident of Pune in Maharashtra, who had boarded the down New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Vande Bharat Express on Thursday.
Officials said the woman was contacted by Sainthia GRP and asked to collect her belongings.
After proper verification, the bag was handed over to her on Friday. The recovered items included two gold chains weighing around 30 grams, a gold pendant, a pair of gold earrings and 12–14 sarees.
Choudhury thanked the police for their prompt action in recovering and returning her valuables.
