
Mumbai, 13 Mar (HS): A delegation of tribal
legislators from all the parties met Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Lok Bhavan,
Mumbai on Friday.
The delegation apprised Varma of the pending issues
related to tribal population in Maharashtra. Varma assured that the issues will
be discussed with the authorities and ministers concerned. He also assured to
visit tribal dominated areas in the state.
The delegation was led by FDA Minister Narhari
Zirwal and former minister Dharmarao Baba Atram. They demanded that a meeting
of the Advisory Committee for Tribals headed by the Chief Minister should be
held at least once in six months. A memorandum of demands was also handed over
to the Governor. The major demand was of recruitment against 12,500 vacant
posts under the ST category.
The delegation presented a statue of Bhagwan Birsa
Munda to the Governor. The delegation included Bhimrao Keram, Harishchandra
Bhoye, Manjula Gavit, Hiraman Khoskar, Dr Kiran Lahamate, Amsha Padvi, Raju
Todsam, Shirish Kumar Naik and Vilas Tare.
