Prayagraj,
13 March (HS): Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma inaugurated the
NIST Kisan Mela 2026 at the National Institute of Seed Science and Technology,
Kushmaur, Mau. On this occasion, he encouraged farmers to adopt modern and
scientific farming. Minister AK Sharma said that due to the hard work of
farmers, the country has become self-sufficient in food grain production and
now the export of agricultural products is increasing in the international
market as well. He appealed to farmers to increase their income through
integrated farming, i.e., by combining farming with animal husbandry,
horticulture, and fisheries.
Regarding
the storage problem, he said that the government is giving subsidy for setting
up cold storage, which farmers and entrepreneurs should avail. On the rumours
spreading about the Ghosi Sugar Mill, the minister said that no one has the
power to close the Ghosi Sugar Mill; farmers should not pay attention to any
kind of misleading things. He appealed to the farmers to come forward in the
energy sector as well and said that farmers can earn additional income by
producing electricity through solar panels and biogas. During the programme,
the minister visited the agricultural stalls and appreciated the innovations of
the farmers. A large number of farmers, agricultural scientists and officials
were present in the fair.
