Kochi, 12 March (H.S.): The Kerala High Court has removed Vellappally Natesan from the post of General Secretary of the SNDP Yogam, ruling that he is not legally eligible to continue in the position.

The order was issued by Justice T.R. Ravi while considering a petition filed by several individuals, including the late writer and social critic Prof. M.K. Sanu.

The petitioners had sought Natesan’s disqualification and removal from the post, alleging serious irregularities in the functioning of the organisation.

In its ruling, the court found that the SNDP Yogam, which is registered under the Companies Act, had failed to comply with statutory requirements. According to the petitioners, the organisation had not filed its financial statements since 2006, a violation of the provisions governing companies registered under the law. Based on these findings, the court concluded that the current office-bearers did not have the legal authority to continue in their positions.

Apart from Natesan, the court also held that SNDP Yogam Vice-President Tushar Vellappally, President M.N. Soman, and Devaswom Secretary Arayakkandi Santhosh were not eligible to remain in their posts. The court ordered the removal of all four leaders from their positions.

The High Court further directed that a new board of directors must be constituted through a legally valid election process.

Until such elections are conducted, the court instructed the government to nominate directors who will oversee the administration of the organisation. This temporary board will manage the affairs of the SNDP Yogam and ensure that elections are conducted in accordance with the law to form a new governing body.

The ruling comes amid longstanding allegations of administrative irregularities within the organisation and marks a significant development in the leadership structure of the SNDP Yogam.
