Mumbai, 11 Mar (HS): The remote villages in Melghat in Amravati district will
get power through Solar Micro Grid. Instead of providing independent solar
system to every house, a major solar project will be erected in every village
and stored in batteries to supply power to every house. The information was
provided by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the Legislative Assembly.
Replying
to the issue raised by Sulabha Khodke in the Legislative Assembly, Fadnavis,
who also holds the portfolio of Energy Ministry said the Solar Micro Grid
system will be erected in tribal dominanted remote villages in Dharni and
Melghat in Amravati district. Fadnavis said that the villages are located in
dense forest and power supply using regular grid system is difficult. Getting permission
from Forest Department was difficult due to the rules pertaining to reserve
forests. The alternative system of Sold Micro Grid, therefore was worked out.
Annual Maintenance Agreement has also been worked out.
The
State Government is continuously working on electrification in the region since
2017. In 2018 some areas were connected, but maintenance was a major issue.
Many Solar Energy Systems became non-functional due to lack of proper
maintenance. The new system has been planned with agreement for its
maintenance.
In
two villages the work on Solar Micro Grid has been completed. Some social
organisations have taken initiative for connecting five villages and the work
is in [progress. About Rs 20- crore have been earmarked for other areas,
Fadnavis said.
Fadnavis
also informed the House that six villages have been connected with road and
work in four villages is in progress.
