Kolkata, 11 March (H.S.) : Ahead of the completion of his tenure, outgoing West Bengal Governor C. V. Ananda Bose on Wednesday issued an emotional open letter addressed to the people of the state, expressing gratitude for their affection and support during his time in office.

In his message, Bose said that although his innings at Lok Bhavan in Kolkata was coming to an end, his association with West Bengal would continue. Describing the state as his “second home,” he said his journey with Bengal was far from over and that he would remain connected with its people.

Reflecting on his tenure, the Governor said he had the opportunity to travel across the state and interact with people from all walks of life. From villages and small towns to cities, he said these interactions helped him understand Bengal’s social diversity and rich cultural heritage.

In his letter, he also referred to Mahatma Gandhi, recalling his deep emotional connection with Bengal, and said he now shares similar sentiments about the state’s enduring influence and appeal.

Bose also cited a thought from Rabindranath Tagore, highlighting the idea that true service and spirituality are found among common people, especially among workers and those engaged in everyday struggles.

Sharing his personal experiences, he wrote that he found the real strength of Bengal in the enthusiasm of its children, the affection of its elderly, and the warmth of ordinary citizens.

Concluding his message, Bose expressed hope that West Bengal would achieve greater heights in the coming years and wished prosperity, good health, and progress for all its people. He also prayed for the blessings of Goddess Durga for the well-being of the state’s residents.

He ended his message with the words, “Vande Mataram.”
