Kolkata, 11 March (H.S.): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former West Bengal education secretary Manish Jain and former Trinamool Congress youth leader Kuntal Ghosh in connection with its probe into the alleged School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scam, sources said on Tuesday.

According to sources, both have been asked to appear before ED officials at the CGO Complex in Kolkata between March 16 and 19 for questioning.

Investigators said that apart from the two, around 100 job aspirants are also being summoned in phases for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation into the recruitment irregularities.

Ghosh, a former Trinamool Congress youth leader from Hooghly, had earlier been arrested by the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the primary teachers’ recruitment scam. He is currently out on bail.

Jain had also been summoned earlier by the CBI in connection with the recruitment case and had appeared before the agency for questioning.

The ED is now examining their roles as part of its ongoing probe into alleged irregularities in the SSC recruitment process, sources added.
