Sivasagar (Assam), March 01 (HS): Nazira Police on Saturday night arrested a youth in connection with an alleged ‘love jihad’ case. The accused has been identified as Aftab Ali, who was apprehended from Sonapur in Guwahati.

According to police sources, the accused allegedly used the name “Rahul Lahan” on social media platforms, including Facebook, to befriend Hindu girls by concealing his identity. He is accused of luring a Hindu girl from Tokou Ali area of Nazira town with a proposal of marriage and taking her to Nagaon.

The arrested youth is currently in police custody. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and further legal action is underway.-----------
