(HS): According to authorities, a criminal sought in an attempted murder case
and an attack on a police squad was detained on Sunday following an exchange of
fire in the Baldirai region here. The accused, Adarsh Singh alias Pradeep, a
resident of Dobhiara village in the Haliyapur police station area, was also
offered a Rs 50,000 reward for arrest. A police squad set up a trap after
receiving information that the accused, who was carrying an illegal pistol, was
traveling near Para Bazar. When encircled, he reportedly opened fire on the
police with the intent to murder, injuring himself in the leg in retaliation.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police
Akhand Pratap Singh, an illegal.315 bore country-made revolver, one used
cartridge, and one live cartridge were confiscated from his possession.
Police said that on November 20, 2025, an Ayodhya
team visited the accused's home to arrest him in connection with an attempted
murder case, during which he and his friends reportedly assaulted the police
team, stealing their service weapon and cell phones. A case was later filed at
the Haliyapur police station. The injured accused was brought to Baldirai's
primary health centre. Further legal processes are pending.
