Imphal, 01 March (HS): In separate operations carried out on Saturday, Manipur Police arrested three rebels, including a member of KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) and two extortionists linked to UNLF (Koireng), from Imphal West and Imphal East districts.
In the first operation, police apprehended Laishram Monish Singh alias Tom (23), an active cadre of KCP (Nongdrenkhomba), from his residence at Khagempalli Pankha Nganapi Thong Mamang under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district. A mobile phone was recovered from his possession.
In another operation conducted at Wangkhei Ayangpalli under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district, two active cadres of UNLF (Koireng) involved in extortion activities were arrested. They have been identified as self-styled 2nd Lieutenant Asem Nongpoknganba Meitei alias Ngangoiba (32) and Thangjam Gandhi Meitei alias Yaima (27).
Security personnel seized one pistol along with two magazines loaded with 16 live rounds and a mobile phone from the arrested individuals. Further investigation is underway.------------
