Kathmandu, 01 March (H.S.): Escalating tensions in the Middle East have severely disrupted operations at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), leaving hundreds of passengers stranded amid widespread flight cancellations.
Several Gulf airports—including Sharjah, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait City, Abu Dhabi, and Dammam—have suspended operations, triggering the cancellation of multiple international flights to and from Kathmandu. As a result, numerous departures and arrivals scheduled for Sunday were scrapped, compounding the chaos that began Saturday.
Passengers have been stuck at the airport since then, with many observed milling about in confusion early Sunday morning. Notices of cancellations are prominently displayed across the terminal premises.
According to an official statement from Tribhuvan International Airport, flights to Gulf destinations stand cancelled until further notice. Airlines affected include Qatar Airways, Flydubai, Emirates, Kuwait Airways, Air Arabia, as well as Nepal-based Himalayan Airlines and Nepal Airlines. Travelers are urged to check with their carriers for updates as the situation evolves.
