
Mumbai, 1 March (H.S.): A major fire broke out at a hotel in south Mumbai shortly after midnight on Sunday, officials said. No injuries were reported in the incident.
According to fire brigade officials, the blaze was reported at 12.57 am at Hotel Babel, located on Walchand Hirachand Road in the Fort area of the city.
The “Level 1” fire was confined to the first and second floors of the two-storey hotel building. It affected electric wiring and installations, wooden furniture, mattresses and scrap materials spread across an area of around 2,000 square feet, including parts of the terrace.
Multiple fire engines were deployed to the spot, along with ambulances, power supply staff and other emergency personnel to assist in the operation.
The fire was brought under control by 2.25 am, officials said. The exact cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.
