New Delhi, 25 February (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed a short while ago for a two-day visit to Israel. This marks his second trip to the country.The visit, occurring against the backdrop of escalating tensions in West Asia—particularly the deteriorating relations between the United States and Iran—is viewed as a pivotal step toward fortifying the India-Israel strategic partnership.

Prime Minister Modi will also address the Israeli parliament.

According to an official spokesperson, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on this state visit to Israel on February 25-26 at the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This is the Prime Minister's second visit to Israel.

During the trip, he will hold talks with Netanyahu.The two leaders will review significant progress in the India-Israel strategic partnership and deliberate on collaboration opportunities across diverse domains, including science and technology, innovation, defense and security, agriculture, water management, trade and economy, as well as people-to-people exchanges.

Exchanges of views are anticipated on regional and global issues of mutual interest. Prime Minister Modi will also meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) posted on its X handle: As the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Knesset, Modi's visit is a blend of diplomacy and dignity. It is rooted in history, values, and a forward-looking strategic partnership.

Notably, key discussions are expected on the Iron Dome air defense system, a potential defense deal worth around 71,000 crore rupees, and AI-based drone technology.
