Guwahati, 25 February (HS): A youth was killed on the spot and another sustained serious injuries after being hit by a train in the Boragaon area of Guwahati.

According to police sources on Wednesday, the incident occurred in the Tetelia locality of Boragaon when the two youths were reportedly near the railway tracks after visiting Deepor Beel to catch fish. One of them killed at the scene, while the other was critically injured and rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Police said that several trains passed over the body of the deceased following the accident. The identities of both the deceased and the injured youth could not be ascertained till the filing of the last report.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and an FIR has been registered. Police have launched an investigation and are working to establish the identities of the victims.-----------
