Dibrugarh (Assam), 25 February (HS): A massive fire reduced a residential house and two cars to ashes in the West Banswadi area of Dibrugarh district on Wednesday early hours, causing property loss worth several lakhs of rupees.
Police said that upon receiving information about the blaze, personnel along with a fire and emergency services team rushed to the spot. Although the fire was brought under control in time, the house belonging to Jayant Das and two vehicles parked on the premises were completely gutted before the flames could be doused.
During the incident, two LPG cylinders reportedly exploded, intensifying the fire and causing panic in the locality. The explosions led to the rapid spread of flames, making firefighting efforts more challenging.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, police suspect that a short circuit might have triggered the incident. An FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the blaze.----------
