Imphal, 25 February (HS): A substantial cache of arms and related materials was recovered from Manipur’s Imphal East district during a search operation launched by the state police based on specific intelligence inputs. No arrests have been made in connection with the recovery so far.

According to an official statement issued by Manipur Police Headquarters on Wednesday, the operation was carried out in the Nungai hill area under Sagolmang Police Station in Imphal East district. During the search, police recovered one country-made rifle, a country-made 9mm pistol with magazine, one HE-36 hand grenade, five live rounds of .303 bore ammunition, a bulletproof jacket fitted with two metal plates, one magazine pouch, two BP helmets and three slings.

Police said search operations are being intensified in sensitive areas across the state to recover illegal arms and explosives. Further investigation and necessary legal action in connection with the seized items are underway.-------------
