Chennai, 24 February (H.S.) : The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has announced a major electoral promise of providing a one-time financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to every family in the state.
This announcement was made by the party on Tuesday as part of its third phase of poll promises, coinciding with the 78th birth anniversary of the late party leader and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
The party leadership stated that this financial aid is intended to provide relief to citizens who are struggling with the rising cost of essential commodities and increased taxes under the current administration.
In addition to the family assistance, the AIADMK has pledged to support the youth through a monthly unemployment allowance. Under this scheme, graduates registered with employment exchanges will receive Rs 2,000 per month, while those who have completed their higher secondary education will be granted Rs 1,000 per month.
The party also focused on the welfare of the fishing community, promising to increase the relief grant provided during the annual fishing ban period from the current Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000. These measures are designed to address the economic grievances of various sectors across the state.
The manifesto further includes benefits for weavers and small-scale vendors. The AIADMK has promised to enhance the free electricity limit for handloom weavers from 300 to 450 units and for power loom operators from 1,000 to 1,400 units.
Furthermore, the party vowed to waive loans taken by roadside vendors in urban areas to alleviate their financial burden.
This latest set of promises follows earlier announcements made on the birth anniversary of party founder MG Ramachandran, as the AIADMK intensifies its campaign for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
