New Delhi, 22 February (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Meerut in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, February 22, 2026, to inaugurate and dedicate development projects worth approximately ₹12,930 crore.

Flag-Off and Inauguration Schedule

Prime Minister Modi will flag off the Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat train at around 12:30 PM from Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat Station, followed by a metro ride to Meerut South Station. At approximately 1:00 PM, he will unveil various development initiatives and address a public gathering.

Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor Dedication

The Prime Minister will dedicate the complete 82-kilometer Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor to the nation, marking the full operationalization of India's inaugural Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). This includes inaugurating the remaining sections: a 5-kilometer stretch from Sarai Kale Khan to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, and a 21-kilometer segment from Meerut South to Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh.

Designed for speeds up to 180 kilometers per hour, the system will swiftly connect key urban hubs like Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Meerut to Delhi.

Meerut Metro Launch and Integrated Operations

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will launch Meerut Metro services between Meerut South and Modipuram, pioneering shared infrastructure with Namo Bharat in India. Boasting a maximum operational speed of 120 kilometers per hour, this will become the nation's fastest metro, covering the route in about 30 minutes with scheduled stops. Stations such as Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul, and Modipuram will activate on this occasion.

Multi-Modal Hub and Environmental Gains

Sarai Kale Khan Station will function as a major multi-modal hub, linking Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, Delhi Metro's Pink Line, Veer Hakikat Rai ISBT, and the Ring Road. The integrated Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro operations will establish new benchmarks for urban and regional transport, reducing road traffic and significantly curbing carbon dioxide emissions.
