New Delhi/Hyderabad, February 20 (HS): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday proposed the establishment of an AI war room in Hyderabad with support from the Union government to monitor and respond to emerging developments in artificial intelligence.

Addressing the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, he described artificial intelligence as a transformative phase in human history and said India must move beyond being a consumer of global technologies to becoming a developer and owner of AI systems.

He called for leadership across the AI ecosystem, including graphics processing unit manufacturing, data storage infrastructure and development of core AI languages. The Chief Minister also suggested setting up a world-class AI university with multiple campuses focused on original research.

Highlighting the social impact of technological change, he recommended a national assessment of AI-driven job displacement and urged investment in reskilling and employment generation.

Reddy further proposed the creation of a national AI fund to support startups and youth innovation, along with an AI startup village in Telangana in partnership with the Centre.

He also suggested forming a national AI council on the lines of existing federal coordination bodies to guide policy, and called for a dedicated ministry to frame laws addressing misuse of artificial intelligence.

To sustain global engagement, he proposed organising an AI summit every six months in different cities and invited national and international institutions to collaborate with Telangana in advancing AI innovation and governance.
